We continue our Lava and a Cup of Java Monster series with villain number 4...the fiery Chieftain Braggish.

Braggish despises the villagers of Winterhaven and wants to get rid of them once and for all. Look for him in his master quarters as he prepares for the one-sided invasion.

Thanks,

Ben

The gang at BensRPGPile.com is working fast and furious on all aspects of its upcoming Dungeon Delve at this year's Phoenix Comicon. We're happy to say our character sheets are nearly done.

The trick here was making something that was super easy to use so that the game materials didn't negatively impact the actual gameplay and cost the players valuable minutes off the clock.

We continue our Lava and a Cup of Java Monster series with villain number 3...the infamous Lieutenant Gring.

This no-nonsense Orc seeks out trouble. His unmistakable laugh is often heard echoing through the hallowed halls of Stonemarch. Look for him in the grand hall.

Thanks,

Ben

You have to love when a plan doesn't come together. So much so that we thought this was the perfect time for another video diary entry.

Our first try on an excavation pit didn't go as planned. Rather than knocking everything down like an angry toddler, we thought it would be fun to shoot some footage of our original vision gone wrong and share how we plan on "fixing" situation.

So, enjoy our next video diary entry: P12: Terrain Can Be the Pits.

Thanks,

Ben

We continue our Lava and a Cup of Java Monster series with villain number 2...Dr. Eraz (we presume).

Sure he's off his rocker (evident by his superstitious eyepatch) but he gives a mean sermon for Braggish and the troops. Look for him in the mountain's makeshift temple.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi All,

Today we kick off our weekly series of character introductions for Lava and a Cup of Java (a Phoenix Comicon Dungeon Delve).

Here's how it will work:

Each week we'll post a new character from the delve with some starting character traits and quirks. If you have a suggestion to make the NPC a little nastier, please share.

Examples: Maybe the featured character picks his teeth with a sawed off finger bone of his victim? Maybe this particular orc is a closet ale drinker. Or, maybe he has split personalities. You tell us.

You can post on the community site. Send us an e-mail. Say hey on Twitter. Visit the main weekly blog site.

This week's character is: Sergeant Belfire, the resident jailor.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom (+4),

Ben

Hi All,

This week's video diary entry is a two-parter...

We got a lot of requests to put up some video with a wide shot of our terrain building operation as well as some tighter shots of the individual Hirst Art pieces. So, this week you get two fun camera perspectives.

We're still in mass assembly-line-mode but y'all want the video snippets so we're happy to accommodate.

Enjoy P11: Beware the Builds of March

Thanks,

Ben

Hi all,

We finally got our first official dungeon delve play test in this past Friday. It went fairly well. Personally, I was a nervous wreck (while co-writer Rob was his usual calm self).

Enjoy our latest video diary entry, P9 Post Play Test Paranoia, and hear the good news (and the bad news) from a delve writers' perspective.

We chatted about possible timesavers including single character sheets, color power cards, a romer, and pre-rolled initiatives as we try to balance a fun game and a game clock.

Thanks for all the wisdom and well wishes so far,

Ben (and the gang)

Hi All,

Today is a great day as BensRPGPile.com officially releases its upcoming Phoenix Comicon flyer and delve module cover for Lava and a Cup of Java. After a lot of blood, sweat and tears, we think they both turned out dandy.

The black and white flyer is for store handouts at Gamers' Inn:

The color poster is our dungeon delve module cover:

Next up for the Pile crew is monster selection, terrain building (for the large game table), and multiple rounds of play testing.

You can watch all the fun and thinkin' unfold in this episode on our YouTube channel.

Thanks for all the positive feedback so far.

Happy Friday Y'all,

Part six of our module-writing experience, the ABC's of a Phoenix Comicon Delve, examines our initial attempts with the DDI Adventure Tools (specifically the monster builder).

Listeners can hear how we begin to fortify the Orc stronghold...
