It has been a long time. My wife finally agreed to sit in with the kids and play, so we had our first family role playing game. My wife didn't want to be bothered making a character, so she left it up to me. The kids and I decided that since she is so serious (even her humor doesn't stray from sarcastic), I would make her a pixie rogue. This means the kids get to be 7th level characters. My 9 year old son wanted to be something scary, so we chose bugbear fighter for him. His big sister went with the more traditional half elf ranger. For ease of starting the story, the elven mother took in a ball of fur (the bugbear) to raise, and when the kids went traveling, they strayed into pixie territory, meeting their mothers character...
The highlights of the game? A bugbear being pranked by pixies saying "I smell creatures laughing at me", and a half elf mouthing off to one of her character's mother's friends "She taught me to be good. I was born reckless"
Gaming will once again be great.
