Status report 05.

Already the people of Middle Earth are inventing new standards for computers.

The Elves have created a new file format for use in computers. The Executable and Linkable Format or ELF format is a universial executible file format compatable with most operating systems.

The Dwarves have also invented a sophisticated universal debugging data format called Debugging With Attributed Record Formats or DWARF. So far they have made improvements to the format in DWARF-3 but they expect to deploy there next version 4 after they complete the beta testing.

We now know that the wizards use Linux Distros called Sorcerer or Source Mage.

We will report more on this when we have more information.

Status Report No. 04

All of Middle Earth infrastructure has been finalized in the Elvish Sector at this stage. We are now installing the Linux OS on all terminals and computers in the facilities and teaching the Elves how to install, boot, deploy, and use Linux. They are really good at this and are catching on with minimal issues.

Credit and thanks goes to the Gnomes for developing the GNU Network Object Model Enviroment or GNOME as a Graphical User Interface.

We are amazed at the fact that they can use the Command Line Interface with ease. Their hands just fly across the keys and they have almost no need to use the GNOME Interface. Unlike other races such as Trolls, Goblins, and Orcs who can't type commands for crap. So they rely on GNOME almost exclusively.

Our Supercomputer System known as The Wiz is being hooked up right now even as we speak. It will be using Beowolf Clustering method because it is the most well known and most popular method for Supercomputing clusters. Its parallel processing capabilities are the best in the field.

They Elves have chosen to use the Debian Distribution for its many packages. Personally Darken Rahl uses the Backtrack 5 R3 Distribution for its hacking capabilities. We are surprised that they did not decide to use Red Hat as it is the most common one out there.

The Trolls, Goblins, and Orcs all chose the Ubuntu Distribution for its ease to use obviously. This is because they are not that intelligent when it comes to technology and it is very hard for them to learn.

What do you know? It appears my Viking invader friends accept Bitcoins as Tribute. But they asked me to develop a system to convert Bitcoins into Gold Pieces. So after going through several different currency exchange systems OOC I developed a simple solution by calling Bitcoins another in game currency and using a unit system of 10 Bitcoins=1 GP. IMO a resonable amount. And after that I can impliment the block system later.

Hello everyone! WAR10CK here again, with a new idea for a creature. You thought Rot Grubs were a problem? Well this idea from ASDF Movie is a pest called the Mine Turtle.

It is quite literaly a land mine that is a turtle. The only thing it says "Hello". If you step on it, it blows and deals explosive damage. They can also destroy or damage the environment around them depending on their blast raideus.

These things can cause major trouble when in large swarms. So if a large swarm of mine turtles appears in a town, they can easily cause wide spread destruction.

My DMPC The Crimson Demon does play in Middle Earth. But there he goes by his original name: Darken Rahl. He is in charge of the Middle Earth Operations Command but has since shared his post with a lady in in the Elven City whos name escapes me. The Middle Earth Operations Command Headquarters is located there and is guarded by the elves.

His weapon of choice is a large Elven blade crafted of the finest meterials availible on this planet. Is is indistructable and glows bright blue in the presance of hostiles like all elven blades do.

This blade is called the Neuromancer because of, i'll get back to you on that. But it is unique becuase it is also USB enabled memory storage device. It can hold 500 YB of data and so he carries it with him at all times. It allows him to slay any monster and can be infused with bio and chemical agents.

However he has not needed to rend any flesh with it too often becuase most of the populations recognise him as a peaceful person. He especially is good friends with the Trolls. For he has been on many a Trolling Raid before. Causing a whole lot of drama of course.

OPERATION HOBBIT STATUS REPORT

The Artifact has been recovered and The Old Man has confirmed. They are now heading towards Fort Knox. That facility has been deemed beyond any acceptible recovery standards.

Ever since that dragon invaded the city there, the facility has been sealed. Comms were lost when the satellite links were destroyed in the invasion. We have never heard from them ever since and are not even sure if anyone is still alive in that mountain.

However just recently we recieved a call from them just moments ago. It is not a strong signal but it is clear. Apparently the people in there have been coming and going from the building using an old passageway hidden in the city. They managed to repair the satcomms and are continueing to do so.

So far they have been living inside the damaged facility for all these years and using the secret passageway to gather supplies. The dragon has been isolated completely from them so they have been living inside behind the blast doors. The last escape transport was destroyed and so they have since set up home inside.

Now our commander The Fair Maiden has finally asked for our files after she discoverd for once that something was wrong. I trust she will realize that The Artifact is sentient and is indeed having HIM return.

STATUS REPORT ON OPERATION HOBBIT

All attempts to locate the subject known as Golom have been met with limited success. So the artifact remains out there and still a threat to Interational Security.

Sobject keeps going on and off the grid. Our satellite grids continue to sweep the planet but the subject is very elusive.We suspect that the artifact is sentient and is aware of our attempts to secure it and it is actively evading our tracking. This is the only explaination for why the subject keeps disappearing. 

We have put out an appeal or quest to the public to locate this creature. The Old Man has formed an "adventure" team to locate subject and the artifact. We have told them of our suspicions and they can indeed confirm that the artifact is indeed sentient.

We have mentioned specifically that the recovery of the artifact is the top most priority. It must not fall into the wrong hands or all of middle earth is TOTALLY SCREWED! We need to secure and destroy that ring before it is too late. If the artifact does falls into the hands of the enemy, then we will initate operation fellowship. Our backup plan.

This is the most extensive class that I am using for scientists in my research facilities dealing in biological research. Very useful. Copy and paste the link into your browser or else it will not work.

There is a large and well defended castle complex called Spiderweb Castle. A large fortress deep in the center of Spiderweb Forest. The forest gets its name from the fact that it is a colossal maze of trails. If you don't know the way through, you can get lost easily.

No army has ever been able to attack this place because they could never find their way through the forest. This made it the perfect place for the nerd, geeks, and hackers to live. Total security from invaders and all the privacy they could ever need. They formed their own clan there called the Otaku.

The people who live at Spiderweb Castle are samurai who are cowards in the face of battle and the dishonored. Defectors and other non samurai class people are here too. All they need is to know how to wield and carry a sword.

The Crimson Demon "acquired" this place from an older clan and set it up to be a super secure sanctuary fortress for the dishonored to live in when they refuse to commit seppuku. A lot of ronin stay here as a half way house or shelter. Officially the lord of the castle is the Crimson Demon but it is a self sustaining community that do perfectly fine without one.

He will drop by and stay for some short stretches but he is a vassal to the Senshin clan and a dear friend of it's leader. So he doesn't lord over the place all the time. For a warlords castle, it is probably the largest high tech and nerdy location in the lands. The inside of the castle practically screams NERD ALERT!

It's a place where you are judged by what you say and think, not by what you look like. Honestly there is a filthy vagrant who is a traitor to his own lord and he knows more about digital cryptography then the demon himself. Free expression is abundant there too.

The Otaku Clan is very unique for it's nature, composition, and membership. But never the less they are still samurai and others who took up the sword and are willing to use it. They will defend their home with honor and without mercy if forced to. The ronin will are part of the few in the clan who will die fighting too.

Additional security and defense systems are presently installed and include but are not limited to: laser fences and tripwires, automated roving sentry and surveillance drones, CCTV and satellite surveillance systems with multiple visor modes.
