I think all of the art helps create the atmosphere in the game. I even think the art way back where they were funny and had captions were great.

I have found the people I game with like shorter combats, but more frequent. The challenge to them isn't the long encounter, but how to endure 5 combats later when the mage is low on spells, the fighters are low on HPs, and they actually have to dip into that odd magic item collection they carry around.

Only just seeing this, I'm not so concerned with rounds but real time. If we had to assume a game round (5 players plus GM) was 5 min of real life time I'd say 4-5 rounds for most fights, 8-9 max.
